Applegate Farms Uncured Turkey Hot Dogs (Antibiotic Free)

Oh my goodness. Go out, right now, and buy these hot dogs!

For one, they are labeled 'gluten free' so there's the super relief to know they are guaranteed gluten free!

For two, they are only 45 calories / 2g of fat a piece! Holy deliciousness Batman! I was able to have two hotdogs, each wrapped in a piece of Ener-G Tapioca Bread for significantly less than a single turkey burger of ANY variety.

Not to mention they have 6g of protein each! They may just become my after workout quick snack!

I don't know where these dogs have been all my life. They significantly blow my previous all beef Dietz and Watson hot dogs out of the water.

Hungry Girl Peanut Butter Cups Recipe/Review

So in my second forray into the actual using of a hungry girl recipe, I decided to make the peanut butter cups! (Previously have attempted to make the cheesecake bites).

http://www.hungry-girl.com/chew/chewdetails.php?isid=946

There is the official recipe!

Well, my pb cups didn't look nearly as neat as theirs. I think I should have used a mini muffin tin with mini muffin liners. I barely had enough to get 11 cups with 1/3 of the way full. I also couldn't find the sugar free syrup so I just used the lite Hershey's syrup. I also couldn't get the syrup to spread the way they did (aka it looked like peanut butter ice cream with a dot of chocolate on top). It definitely satisfies the chocolate & PB craving, so no complaints there! it has more of the consistancy of ice cream than a Reese's cup though. I can't see me making these all the time, maybe just once a month around Aunt Flo time. I can have a few cups to satisfy cravings without making a huge dent in my calories/fat which is nice!

I'll follow up with a picture soon (once I get my camera back from the bf).

Ingredients:
1 8-oz. container Cool Whip Free
1/3 cup Better ‘n Peanut Butter, Regular Creamy
4 tbsp. Hershey’s Syrup, Sugar Free

Directions:
Line a 12-cupcake pan with cupcake holders, or spray pan with nonstick spray. Using a whisk, combine one cup of Cool Whip Free with Better 'n Peanut Butter. Fold in remaining Cool Whip. Pour the mixture into cupcake tin evenly (approx. 2.5 tablespoons each). Top each cup with a dollop of sugar-free chocolate syrup (about 1 tsp.). Freeze. Enjoy. Serves 12.

Trader Joes Joy

Last night I got out and went shopping at Trader Joes! I never understood the allure of that store, even though many Celiac's swear by it... Well, I'm officially a believer now!

I found some amazing healthy items there. For one, I picked up the Better'n Peanut Butter and Almond Breeze Unsweetend Vanilla (both recommended by Hungry-Girl.com.) Then I picked up some Trader Joe's GF Brownie Mix which I fully intend to make with canned pumpkin (I'll keep you posted on this.)

I decided to try and find some turkey products, because they're the best healthy meat I've found so far. I've picked up some turkey hot dogs (only 45 calories a piece!) and frozen southwest turkey burgers (100 calories a piece!). Both of these finds made me giddy, and I've discovered the burgers are delicious! They have a lot of flavor with not a lot of fat/calories. I also picked up some steamed lentils (which I'll use for something I'm sure), turkey bacon, and some chicken/turkey sausage which I'm not entirely sure about (I bought the chicken apple version by the same brand and hated them.)

I followed up my trip to Trader Joes with a trip to the Stop and Shop! I picked up my Cool Whip Free, my egg beaters, my light OJ, and some light Breyer's Yogurt.

I also picked up some butternut squash which I'm VERY interested in trying to make fries out of. I think I may do that on Saturday when the bf and I have company over his place.

All in all - a successful shopping day! On Sunday I need to pick up some salad mixings for the week, but I didn't want to pick them up so late. I'll probably get the salad spray as well, since that seems like a good way to watch the calories on the salad. I definitely spent more than I should have, but I got a LOT of healthy items. My only downfall was Trader Joe's had frozen GF Peanut Butter Cookie Dough (200 calories a piece). But I can bake them one at a time, so hopefully it won't be too bad.
